Canopy Zip Line Tour Adventures

The Smoky Mountains just got a lot more exciting with the new addition of the first canopy tour in North Carolina just 15 minutes from Settlers Mountain in the Nantahala Gorge. No need to travel to the tropics to fly through a rain forest. This zip line adventure is a three-hour glide and slide experience that simulates flying and is fueled by gravity and a gradual elevation change.

The canopy tour takes you through multiple ecosystems; over hemlocks, and into hardwood treetops. The route takes you above the forest floor which is blanketed with mountain laurel, dogwood, fern, rhododendron, flame azalea, wild magnolia, and many other native plants. Your Canopy Ranger will also share the natural and cultural history of the gorge as you travel from section to section. While traveling over the half-mile course across the 20 acres, the zip line is just one way to get to each platform. Participants will also use three Sky Bridges and five transfer bridges to get to the 11 zip line sections that zigzag from the slope sides, trees, and elevated platforms. State-of-the-art equipment is provided including a helmet, full body harness, trolley, gloves, and a tether safety line. The professional Canopy Rangers that accompany each group provide all the necessary instruction and assistance.

Your adventure will begin at the check in base where orientation and strapping into your harness begins. At this point you will begin to bond with the other zip liners in your group anticipating a new and exciting adventure.  You will be given training and coaching by trained professionals on a practice zip line. Once you have mastered your new learned skills you will be on your way up the mountain to start your decent through the tree tops. By the time you end the tour, you will have screamed like Tarzan, practiced team work within your group, and in many cases have made new friends.
