Golfing Adventures

If golf is on of your favorite pastimes, then you are in for a treat. Settlers Mountain is conveniently located near two challenging golf courses (and another opening fall 2009) within a short driving distance. While golfing enthusiasts sometimes call mountain golfing “Guerilla Golf”, it is really just another challenging experience to add to your personal golf memories. For every skill level, these courses offer unforgettable golfing adventures. One frequent Settlers Mountain visitor offered this perspective:

“Playing most of my golf on predominantly flat courses in Florida, I was blown away by the majestic views of the mountains when I first played these courses. The elevation changes produce many different shot options and sometimes tricky club selections, but this is truly risk-reward golf at its finest and I highly recommend it.”

Smoky Mountain Country Club

Located less then 13 miles from SETTLERS MOUNTAIN you will find the Smoky Mountain Country Club. Smoky Mountain Country Club renovated the golf course in 2007. Original course designer Thomas Walker was given some of America's most beautiful real estate when he designed Smoky Mountain Country Club and they have improved his original masterpiece. This course features long-range views of the "Smokies" and a challenging, mountain golf course. This golf course is a par 70 and plays a little over 6,000 yards from the tips. What it lacks in distance, it makes up for in its demand for accuracy. From the first tee to the finishing 18th hole, Smoky Mountain Country Club offers 400 feet of elevation changes. Play the golf course to try and break the course record (it's 65) or play to just enjoy the views and sightseeing.

Sequoyah National Golf Club

Coming in Fall '09, Settlers Mountain guests will have a third facility close by at which to play mountain golf. Scheduled for a September 2009 opening, the Sequoyah National Golf Club will be the newest attraction to the Cherokee area and is owned by the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation. Since the golf course is under construction we have no details but we will post their information as soon as it becomes available.
