"Thank you for the gift of such a beautiful place. My sister and I have thoroughly enjoyed our first sisters weekend. We hope to make many new memories on Settlers Mountain in the years to come. Sue and Tom, thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and for making our stay in the Log Cabin so special. The hummingbirds and finches have been a joy to watch from the porch and the birds of the surrounding woods bring comfort to the soul as they sing their morning songs. The cabin has provided the perfect escape. It was wonderful to know that at the end of each day, we had the cabin to look forward to - to return to - to return to the quiet solitude. If you haven't done it yet, we highly recommend driving through Newfound Gap in the Smokies towards Cades Cove, near Townsend in TN. and hiking the beautiful trails by the river - lots of waterfalls and cascading water - the perfect escape from it all. Thank you again for everything in the cabin.The perfect retreat!"

 We had a great time at Settlers Mountain as always. We loved the new television addition to Grinder Switch, since we started coming here there was a 12-inch black and white T.V. We were especially glad to meet Mr. Kraft after coming here for so many years. Sue and Tom [Settlers Mountain caretakers] are wonderful people. They told us about some other sites we didn’t know about. They were gracious enough to take us to the most beautiful, quiet peaceful lake. Settlers Mountain is our home away from home.

This is our third trip to Settlers Mountain. We have had two weeks here at Grinders switch, so peaceful and relaxing, just sitting on the porch and enjoying the peace and quiet of the mountain. We enjoyed seeing Bert and Millie and hearing how settlers mountain became into being. Thanks [hosts] for the information on the movies and anything that was needed in tne cabin. Dori says.... thanks for the treats. Hope to come back again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We were out and about a lot and really enjoyed coming back to our "little cabin in the woods". We also were looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle and found it here. Our only regret, we didn't have enough time to rock on the front porch more.

We had a wonderful time. The weather was lovely and our hosts were warm and friendly. This has been by far the best vacation we have ever been on in the mountains.
Our kids and our exchange student did not want to leave. Thanks for everything especially the advice on great places to go. We'll definitely see you again.

To Settlers Mountain & "The Pinery"!.........

We feel like we have family on Settlers Mountain - Bert, Millie, Tom and Sue & other neighbors we have met. We feel relaxed, refreshed, energized as we return home tomorrow and hopeful that we can return next fall for our third visit to this heavenly spot. This year, (my 80th year ) we completed the trek up to Clingmans Dome.

Waking up, on my birthday, at Sunset was the most peaceful and lovely experience. We have enjoyed our few days here with our two pups ( who loved being allowed to come ).  The sunsets are indeed beautiful, the roosters crowing us awake was magical and the much needed relaxation has been priceless.
